My dog recently suffered a herniated disc and was diagnosed with Ivdd. I began researching all treatment options and came across the Lil Back Bracer. I have a 13lb Chiweenie. When he was well enough to be fitted for the brace, we gave it a try. We liked that it seemed to keep his back straight and he didn’t have a desire to jump on things, he just cruised around the house, however, he couldn’t lay down in it and it was clear he was uncomfortable wearing it. Also, my dog is virtually hairless on his under body and unfortunately, the brace rubbed chafing marks under his arm pits/elbows and groin area creating a different problem. We did not have the brace on too tight, our dog simply has sensitive skin. The brace came in handy taking him on light walks because it kept his back straight and cut down on his pulling, but, we really can’t use it because of the chafing it creates on his under body. Also, the d ring should be made of a more durable material such as metal for dogs who are pullers. I don’t anticipate the plastic ring lasting very long.
